I am doing some research prior to visiting your area next month. Since I am very unfamiliar with US/SC property taxes (being from UK) I am interested in "estimating" the likely property taxes for various properties. I have found the Charleston and Berkely County Government sites very useful (both have great systems) but have difficulty when trying to find info on Dorchester County properties.
Would appreciate a pointer?
Regards

The best advice that I could give you is to budget !% of the property sales price to go towards yearly taxes
Chances are that they will be 1/2 to 2/3 of that number, but that is what I would do
Our area of the country is known for having lower than normal property taxes, but there is not a lot of uniformity as far as true application of the tax code.
There are beachfront homes that only pay $100 a year in taxes because they havent been re-assesed in decades |
